Not only do they add a personal touch, but they can allow one to go into further detail about how this quote relates to their text and also elaborate on details that may be brought up when thinking about this quote. Chapter three also talks a lot about editing your text and how important it is to include it in your writing. Formatting a quote isn’t easy as you need to introduce the quote with whatever may be relevant and also flow your idea out of the quote. This allows someone to exhibit the importance of their quote and why they chose to use this specific one. Yes, quotes may add a spark to your writing, but usually you think of a quote that goes along with your topic and when writing you may find that it doesn’t fit in correctly anymore. Usually when you’re writing, the thesis, topic, purpose, etc. has a chance to change, causing you to reevaluate the quotes you chose from the get-go. After reading this chapter I thought it had a lot of good tips on how to include direct quotes and allow it to enhance my writing. It allows your essay to flow smoothly, and gain a personal viewpoint all while giving it more detail.
