How has my life been impacted by COVID 19?

COVID 19 placed many challenges, both mentally and physically, on almost everyones lives no matter where they reside. It wasn’t just our country, my household, our school, or me; every human, family, business, and life style was effected by this pandemic. Before this, all I had ever known of was the 1918 flu pandemic; something I had only ever heard about, but never lived through. Now, we’re living through our own pandemic. One where we have medicine to help prevent its spread, research that aids us in advancing through these times, and hospitals and doctors who can assist us in our recovery.

In the spring of 2020, I was evacuated from my dorm, separated from my roommates, and moved into a new room to give space for those who were infected by the COVID 19 virus. Before I could even move into a new room we were sent home to finish out the spring semester remotely. From here my life was changed drastically. Gyms were closed, a travel ban was put in place, and only essential businesses were open. Anywhere you went a mask was mandatory. I was stuck inside more than I was used to, prevented from seeing family, and always having sudden changes in my life due to the ever evolving information we gained each day from this pandemic. Although there were a lot of challenges throughout this pandemic, I did learn a lot about myself and different hobbies I may have not been able to explore before. Overall, this pandemic has taught many of us to never take anything for granted and also knowing how to be strong in some of the most challenging times.

This is great, Tori. And when you describe those first few weeks and months, as COVID-19 emerged, I’m immediately taken back to that spring term.
