Progress Report:

When first starting this essay, I was exactly sure of where I wanted to go with my thoughts. I was sitting in front of my computer knowing that I had read all three articles and fleshed them out as much as I could, but also was clueless on how to connect one of them to Mann’s article. This was strung by the fact that I never truly rapped my head around the concepts Mann was trying to hit and didn’t ever grasp a full understanding of the article as a whole. After taking time away from his article I revisited it and picked out facts that I both agreed with and disagreed with and was later able to relate it to Widdecombe’s essay. I now have my thoughts aligned and have come up with a newly formed intro paragraph and some other thoughts in which I could incorporate into other body paragraphs to support my thesis. I am on track with 500 words and have felt that going through both pieces and finding facts that I support or disagree with has been very helpful. It has allowed me to get a good foundation and work up from there. I need to start working on finding quotes and incorporating them into my piece but also state what I am going to be arguing for or against because up until that point I am skipped over it and have really only focused on facts and not my opinion. The hardest challenge for me was comparing the two very different pieces and wrapping head around the meaning and arguments in Mann’s essay. Overall, I feel as though I am on track and with the weekend ahead, I will begin to progress my essay and begin to include my own opinion and other quotes.
