Watching two different events evolve at two completely different speeds is overwhelming. Both happening at the same time, but one being brushed under the rug and the other basically taking over our everyday lives. When we first heard about both climate change and coronavirus, not many people thought much of it, for probably multiple reasons. We didn’t know how fast it would evolve, the effects it would have on the population as a whole, and how quickly it would make its rounds to every person and living thing that has its place here in the world today. Now, here we are today, states in lockdown, experiencing food and supply shortages, hundreds of thousands effected by this virus, and thousands dying; this only being two months in and not even reaching its peak.  It’s the only thing we’re hearing on the news and it is evolving so quickly that everyone is in straight panic. We are taking action and doing so as quickly as possible, so this outbreak doesn’t eventually take over. The government is taking precautions, experimenting with new tests, and spending millions of dollars to slow down this outbreak and to keep our population as strong and healthy as possible. To me, this has become such a important topic because it is happening now and it is effecting our population more and more every single day. With climate change we didn’t experience this burden or quick action, because in my eyes, although it is happening now, we aren’t experiencing or seeing this result. It isn’t causing fatalities at such a high rate, and it isn’t causing us lose jobs and change our everyday lives. In my eyes, it is more of something with slower evolution, and smaller effect. Something we’re looking at to be more minor but in reality, it is just as important. There will soon be a point where it will have these effects and it may be too late, but in all, it is much easier to gather people and have them take precautions for something that it effecting them now and at such a severe term, than to have people come together to try and fix something where they might not even see its negative effects yet.
